Does Chris Paul Make The Rockets Title Contenders?

A turn of events occurred yesterday, with the trade which sends Chris Paul to the Houston Rockets. The Houston Rockets last season finished 3rd in the Western Conference Finals and were eliminated from the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. One of the most successful teams last season, in the regular season, as Mike D'Antoni won Coach of the Year and Eric Gordon 6th Man of the Year. James Harden had an MVP calibre type season, but the Rockets could not overcome the Spurs and could not advance to the Western Conference Finals.

After last night's trade, Chris Paul is someone who could facilitate the offense, create space for James Harden, and score the basketball. However, many questions have been raised regarding the chemistry in the Houston locker room, how will Chris Paul and James Harden interact on and off the court, and how can they lead the Rockets past the Spurs in order to challenge the Warriors. Even though Chris Paul is an excellent player, him and Harden alone cannot challenge the Spurs and the Warriors on the Western Conference.

The Houston Rockets according to Brian Windhorst and Stephen. A. Smith of ESPN are trying very hard to trade for Paul George or Carmelo Anthony. If one of these players gets traded to Houston, the Houston Rockets are a legit championship contender, that could challenge the Golden State Warriors. Chris Paul alone with James Harden will not take the Rockets over the top. Chris Paul; is very demanding as a player, as a leader, and this could interfere with James Harden. Both want to have the ball in their hands, and Coach D'Antoni likes to have one point guard, making the right plays, and the right decisions for everybody else as they spread the floor.

The problem with these two is who is going to hold the ball and facilitate the offense. Chris Paul and James Harden have matured over the years and right now know what to expect from the other 'super teams' so both have to be extremely patient with one, another and do what's best for their team, if they want to challenge the Warriors, the Spurs and the Cavaliers for a title. Carmelo Anthony, who could possibly be traded to Houston, is the pick-up the Rockets need to trade for. Carmelo wants to win an NBA championship, and if he is Olympic-Carmelo the Rockets have a legit chance of challenging the defending champs. He is matured at 33, knows what he wants for the rest of his career, can still score the basketball, while Paul George will be traded for only one year and then (if things don't go as planned) will have the option of joining the Cavaliers, the Lakers, the Celtics or any other team he wants to be a part of as a free-agent.

So, finally, this trade that happened yesterday is shocking in the fact that it actually happened; but at the moment as things stand the Rockets would still be underneath the Spurs and the Warriors on the Western Conference Standings.

SOURCES: Hawks Trade Howard to Hornets

The Atlanta Hawks, according to reports have traded, star center, Dwight Howard to the Charlotte Hornets as league sources told 'The Vertical'. The Hawks will send Howard and the 31st pick in the 2017 NBA Draft to the Hornets for center Miles Plumlee, guard Marco Belinelli and the 41st pick in the draft.

The Hawks had been in negotiations Tuesday with the Brooklyn Nets on a deal, league sources said, but that bid to unload Howard was foiled when the Brooklyn Nets made a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers to trade Brook Lopez and the 27th pick for D'Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov.

REPORT: Andre Iguodala Seriously Considering Leaving Warriors in Free Agency

He has been a big part of the Warriors' success over the last three years, but according to reports, he could be moving on this offseason.

According to Shams Charania of 'The Vertical', the free agent, and former all-star will "seriously consider" other teams this offseason. The Clippers, Jazz, Bulls, Wolves, and Hawks are considered the most likely destinations besides the Warriors. If he decides to sign with one of the above, he will approximately make as much as $20million per year on the open market.

With Golden State having to figure out the contract of Stephen Curry and possibly Kevin Durant before next season, it might be difficult to afford Iguodala a new deal.

REPORT: The Lakers Want A Third, First Round Draft Pick.

Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers view this draft as one huge opportunity for their team to succeed in their nearest future. After the last worst years of their franchise history, the Lakers are looking for ways to turn their team around. The Lakers in this year's NBA Draft have two First Round picks (No. 2 and No. 28), but according to ESPN, Magic Johnson is looking for a way to acquire another First Round pick for Thursday's Draft.

As of their No. 2 Draft pick, according to reports, the Lakers are most likely going to be picking Lonzo Ball or Josh Jackson. De'Aaron Fox's name is being mentioned, but the Lakers will most likely choose from the other two draft prospects.

Monta Ellis, Reggie Bullock Suspended 5 Games for Violating Drug Policy

Indiana Pacers guard Monta Ellis and Detroit Pistons swingman Reggie Bullock were each suspended five games on Friday for violating the NBA's anti-drug policy, according to USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt.

"Monta's suspension is a very serious matter to our franchise and it will be dealt with accordingly," Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard said in a statement.

On the other hand, Bullock's future with the team is uncertain entering the offseason, since the Pistons can decline his $3.3 million qualifying offer for the 2017-18 campaign and make him an unrestricted free agent.

Should Detroit choose to tender the qualifying offer, Bullock will become a restricted free agent and the Pistons will retain the right to match offer any offer sheet he receives.

REPORT: Derrick Rose wants to remain with the New York Knicks.

The oft-injured Derrick Rose will hit the free agent market July 1, but according to his agent, B.J. Armstrong, Rose's mind is already made up -- he wants to be back with the New York Knicks.

Via Yaron Weitzman of Bleacher Report:
"Derrick loves New York and wants to be there," Rose's agent, B.J. Armstrong, told Bleacher Report recently. "We've expressed that to them and been very consistent about it. Whether it happens is on them; all we can do is be clear.”

Armstrong said Rose, who underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee in April, is healthy and working out. He also insinuated that Rose would be willing to take a pay cut (he made $21.3 million last year).

"In the end, we want to explore everything—if you're going to compete, you clearly need a number of [top] players, so let's figure that out," Armstrong said. "We want the best team possible. That's it. All the other stuff, if the team wins, everyone wins."

Will the Knicks re-sign him this summer? This offseason or will they let him go?

RUMOR: Jonathan Isaac Working Out For Only Top 4 Teams Of The NBA Draft.

Even though Jonathan Isaac in most Mock Drafts, is placed at the number sixth spot in the 2017 NBA Draft, his manager and himself seem to believe that Isaac will be in the top 4 in this year's draft.

Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN said the following:
"Told Jonathan Isaac will only work out for the teams in the top 4. Has worked out for both the Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics, but it doesn't sound like the Wolves will get any one-on-one time with Isaac."

"Draft workouts are always fluid. Maybe his camp will have a change of heart at some point. But I can tell you, as of Tuesday night, the 13th of June, Isaac has no interest in working out for the Wolves or any other team outside the top 4." So according to Isaac he actually believes that one of the Celtics, Lakers, Sixers or Suns will draft him on June 22nd.

Finally, as Wolfson said, Isaac could always work out for other teams later if he feels he could slip in the draft and be picked later on. But a refusal to work out for teams picking lower than No. 4 offers at least a hint about his draft stock.

Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Think The Warriors Will Keep Core Together

Even though Kevin Durant, holds a player option for the 2017-2018 campaign and Steph Curry is set to be (July 1st) an unrestricted free agent, both MVPs seem to be more than happy in Golden State and are willing to keep the Warriors' core together.

"It's a special core; a special group," Durant said per Chris Haynes of ESPN. "It's a business of basketball, obviously, so nothing is for sure, but here, I feel like we can work that out and everybody will have a chance to do this again next year. It's easier said than done, but that's the goal." Curry agreed to the statements that were made by his teammate. "It would mean everything to stay together: what we've built is truly special."

The Warriors, however, could have as many as 10 players destined for free agency this offseason, depending on how things transpire. The possible free agents are the following: David West, Ian Clark, Zaza Pachulia, JaVale McGee, James McAdoo, Matt Barnes, Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston, but also Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

If the Warriors figure out how to keep this group (special core) together and remain largely intact, they have the opportunity to develop into the NBA's next dynasty and be remembered alongside the Chicago Bulls of the 1990s, as well as the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics of the 1980s.

REPORT: The Golden State Warriors Will Not Visit Donald Trump's White House.

After the Golden State Warriors win in Game 5 over the Cleveland Cavaliers to secure the 2017 NBA championship, a report surfaced on the internet, which stated that the Warriors, the NBA champs will not pay a visit to the White House.

They are now officially the first men's team to eschew the Trump White House, through other have found a way to avoid it as well. Golden State, skipping the White House is not so surprising given the political leaning of the Warriors players and head coach Steve Kerr. Stephen Curry has also spoken out about his dislike of Trump.

However, the impact past Presidents have had on NBA players was huge, especially former President Barack Obama. The impact Obama on how many NBA players view their role in politics has been discussed by the likes of Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and others in the past. Either way, we will not see the Warriors in the White House this year, as they will snub President Trump.

Can the Warriors build a dynasty that will last years in the NBA?

The Golden State Warriors have done it! They are the 2016-2017 NBA champions. After an incredible season last year, going 73-9 and losing to the Cavaliers in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, the Warriors signed free agent superstar Kevin Durant, and early on this team showed, how unstoppable they can be on both sides of the court. With 67 wins in the regular season, the Warriors had already begun to show the world how they were ready to dominate the playoffs. And that's what they did. Going 16-1 in the playoffs is an all-time achievement, one that's never been done. LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers gave it everything they got, tried to slow down the firepower of the Warriors but they could not hold on and won only just one game. LeBron James was incredible in the series averaged a triple-double, but in the end acknowledged this superteam, their talent, their firepower and stated that they have been the best team for the last three years, and could be the best for more years to come.

Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant were both incredible in the Finals, showcasing their talent, on and off the court. As LeBron James said in the postgame press conference, they are all in their 20s which means they will be coming to the NBA Finals for many more years to come. And this could not have been more right. The Warriors can build an all-time dynasty which could last in the NBA for another four years. They have already gone to three straight NBA Finals, and I can see them going in another four NBA Finals. The question is, can they surpass all the talent there is in the Western Conference?

This year the Warriors, one can argue, were a bit lucky; faced the Spurs with no Leonard, the Jazz with no Hill, the Blazers with no Nurkic. The Warriors, however, have the nucleus and the talent to be in the NBA Finals every year for the next four years if they continue to play like they did in the NBA Finals this year. Now, rumors have been going around about Chris Paul and the Spurs, George and the Clippers, and it seems as the other contenders in the West are doing everything possible to challenge these unstoppable Warriors. Despite that, I don't actually believe we've seen the Warriors at their absolute best, with their 'Big 4' simultaneously being all time great. What if Klay Thompson makes all his shots, together with Steph and Durant? What if Draymond and Klay are locked in defensively? In these Finals, the Big 4 was great, but in portions, not together simultaneously in full games. This is why even though there is competition in the West, as the Spurs, the Clippers, the Rockets can be a threat; they don't have the superpower and talent the Warriors have. These four guys were really good in these Finals and showed how they are ready to take on another huge step, and come back and repeat next year. In my opinion, this is exactly what is going to happen. This will turn into one of the all-time great dynasties, that people will talk about in fifty years.

With Kevin Durant, the world's greatest scorer, Steph Curry (perhaps the best point guard), best shooter on the planet, Klay Thompson, one of the best shooters, Draymond Green, top-2 defensive player, the Warriors' fans have every right to be excited for their nearest future, and hope for more championships to come. This is a team that is writing history and will continue to write history for the years to come. After this run, the debates with the 1996 Chicago Bulls, and the 2017 Golden State Warriors will be seen all summer long.

VIDEO: Allen Iverson - The return to the courts.

A couple of weeks before the start of the "BIG 3" league and Allen Iverson has begun his preparation for the upcoming tournament, in order to get into shape for the games that will keep us excited over the next weeks.

The 42-year old seems to be a bit rusty and not as explosive as he used to be over his successful years in the NBA, however, he made his first shots in practice, and he seems ready to get back in the courts, and in a good level of play in order to be competitive and successful in the "BIG 3" league-tournament against many ex-NBAers, that will keep us, basketball fans, company over the next weeks.

Take a look at the former MVP:

PHOTO: The Incredible Transformation of Victor Oladipo's Body.

At 25 years old, Victor Oladipo after four seasons in the NBA is hoping to become a lot better next season and help his point guard superstar Russell Westbrook. He averaged 15.9 PPG in 49.1% FG with 4.3 RPG and 2.6 APG. He did not disappoint, but he definitely did not live up to the expectations, Thunder fans were hoping for.

Oladipo, got 6.5 million dollars, but starting next season, Oladipo will get paid 21 million dollars annually. He surely understands that he has to improve his game, his body, in order to live up to his expectations and money. Starting off this summer, from the moment the season ended for his team, Oladipo decided to hit the gym and work on his body. He also posted a photo on Instagram showing the change in his body in less than a month.

3-On-3 Basketball Is Now An Official Olympic Sport.

The International Olympic Commitee announced on Friday morning that the 3-on-3 basketball will officially be added and debut in Tokyo for the 2020 Olympic games.

The tournament nearly made to the Rio 2016 Olympics, but that movement was paused, mostly because that Olympiad was woefully underprepared.  Tokyo seems prepared for this type of tournament and as of today, it is official that it will debut in these games. Now the question is will NBA players, like LeBron, Steph, Durant and Kyrie agree to join these 3-on-3 tournaments? This question will be answered in the next couple of years.

VIDEO: LeBron James: "The most firepower I played on my career".

Game 3
In a seven game series, the Golden State Warriors seem almost impossible, to beat this year. Steve Kerr's team has extremely talented players to work with on the offensive side of the court and the defensive. LeBron James in his postgame conference seemed to not believe that the Cavs can pull off, and beat this Warriors.

"I gave everything I had. Both mentally and physically. Win, lose or draw you live with the results. At the end of the day, they played a really good game as well, and they made some big shots down the stretch. They got stops, they made plays of the game and held us to 40% shooting." LeBron showed respect to the Warriors as they became the only team in NBA history with a 15-0 playoff record.

Kyrie Irving also high praised this Warriors team. "It hurts, they made some big-time plays, KD put them up on a huge play down the stretch. It definitely hurts. They are an incredible team, and we have to give them credit."

The Warriors on the other hand and Steve Kerr was telling his team that both LeBron and Kyrie will run out of gas, and will get tired. In the last two minutes, they seemed tired and could not hit the big shots the Cavaliers needed.

LISTEN: Snippet of the Durant - LeBron rap song!

A couple of days ago, Adam Silver revealed that he had a secret Twitter account. It appears to have been found in about a couple of hours.

Now, just a short time after the revelation the Warriors star Kevin Durant and Cavaliers star LeBron James collaborated on a secret rap song back in 2011. A Twitter user has come forward with what he says is the song they recorded. He only shared a snippet of the song (20 seconds), but he claims that he will release the whole song if he gets a million retweets.

KD starts the song by saying "I'm feeling like the world is Skip Bayless and I'm LeBron James." Stay updated, as we will hear the whole song in the upcoming weeks, maybe days.

REPORT: Cavaliers’ Locker Room Smelled Like Marijuana After Game 2.

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ locker room reportedly smelled of marijuana after the team’s 132-113 Game 2 loss in the NBA Finals.
Mike Wise of The Undefeated tweeted, “Cavs locker room has a strong reefer aroma to it,” and defended his claim in a series of follow-ups.
For what is worth, other reporters have denied this information from the Cavaliers locker room, following Game 2.

Kevin Durant is not playing around.

In the 2016 NBA Finals, the Warriors only got 65 points from Harrison Barnes in seven games. Kevin Durant on the 2017 NBA Finals has already scored 71 points in only two games. However, the ways Durant is facilitating and helping the Warriors win and be undefeated in the 2017 NBA playoffs is not only scoring. He is playing outstanding defense on the Cavaliers, LeBron James, JR Smith, blocking shots and stealing passes, while also rebounding the ball, and running down the court, for a fastbreak opportunity.

Last July, since day one we expected the huge impact Durant would have on the Warriors, but we had some questions on how he would react when needed, in a possible NBA Finals game. Thus far, Durant has shown why he is universally considered as one of the top 3 players in the NBA, a scoring machine, and a player who want to achieve his ultimate goal, which is to win a championship. His personality and character in these playoffs have shown that he is not only a great player but could be a true leader of this Warriors team. Durant knew from the day he signed with Golden State, how he would be considered 'weak', 'loser', etc, but right now it seems as Durant has shut down some of these typical responses he got from the NBA fans. As he has previously stated, along with other NBA players, the feeling you get when you win an NBA championship is incredible. If he actually wins this year's title, and also wins the Finals MVP trophy then this would mean, Durant made a great move last summer by joining the Warriors because he would have achieved his personal goals.

The challenge he has to face, going up against LeBron James, and proving everyone wrong, that he is not 'weak' he does show up in big situations on the Finals is what we are witnessing in these first two games. Going up against LeBron is a great challenge and matchup for us, NBA fans. Durant joined the Warriors as one of the top 3 players in the world, wanting to win a title, and help this team achieve that for the second time in three years. He is now two wins away from reaching his ultimate goal. His character is showing, the passion he has for the game, the championship is what we witnessed in the two first Finals games. If he continues to play like that, and together with Steph Curry lead the Warriors to a title, Durant would have completed a successful season, by reaching his ultimate goal.

Finally, nobody knows how the rest of the series will go, but at this very moment, the Warriors seem to have the control, with Durant and Curry showing how they can be unstoppable and lead this team to a title. Durant came to Golden State, to not only give something more than Harrison Barnes but become a true leader and so far he has succeeded in this role.

REPORT: Doctors not giving permission to Chris Bosh to play basketball again.

Chris Bosh's career never seemed so close to an end, until now. According to reports, an NBA doctor examined Bosh's health, with the results mentioning that is is not safe for Chris Bosh's health to play basketball again.

The news has not been officially assured, but all the big national networks covering the NBA have reported that this news could end up into being Bosh's end in his basketball career. Bosh lost the second half of the 2014-2015 NBA season as the doctors found out that he had thrombosis in the blood, while in 2015 in his lungs and 2016 on his calf. He has previously stated that he would want more than anything to return to the court and play the game he loves, after being examined by a series of NBA doctors. His health, however, is the most important thing, his priority and it is something above everything. These doctors would decide whether he could or could not play basketball, and as stated earlier and on the title, but also through the exams results is highly unlikely we see Chris Bosh play basketball again in the NBA competitively.

Were the Warriors that good, or were the Cavaliers really bad?

One of the most anticipated games of the season, took place last night in Oakland, in the Oracle, where the number one seeded Golden State Warriors took on the defending champions, the Cleveland Cavaliers for the first time in these 2017 NBA Finals. The margin of victory sums up the whole game. The final score, 113-91, showed how the Warriors are a different team than last year’s team, how they can lock up the Cavaliers defensively and can go on some really important runs, in crucial moments of the game. However, I don’t even believe that we have seen the Warriors at their absolute best, which to me shows how vulnerable the Cavaliers are especially defensively, how they, at points freeze on the offensive side of the floor, when their offense is not clicking, and how sometimes like yesterday (when the lead was up to 15 points), are rushing shots off.

One of the most important reasons the Warriors are a better, more experienced and ‘different’ in a good way is non-other than Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant last night showed the world how he can be the difference maker in this superteam. He outplayed LeBron James by guarding him most of the time on the perimeter, as he would not let him create his own shot, and would have to force some tough shots and drive the lane (which eventually got him 11 free throw attempts) for some toughly contested layups. On the offensive side though, Kevin Durant was spectacular. He scored 38 points while adding 8 rebounds and 8 assists to become the 2nd player in the history of the NBA Finals in Game 1’s after Kobe Bryant (2009) with this stat line. So, yes Kevin Durant will be the difference maker this year in these NBA Finals. Stephen Curry, was also great last night scoring 28 points, and handing out 10 assists while making everyone around him better sharing the basketball, fighting hard over picks, and knocking down some crazy three point shots. The thing that stands out however out of everything mentioned so far, was their defense. JaVale McGee, Klay Thompson and the rest of the guys were amazing, as they would not let Kyrie Irving create his own shot, would force a whole lot of turnovers by the Cavaliers, and would protect the paint spectacularly. The Cavaliers against Klay Thompson shot 1/12 from the field, which is something that shows how valuable Klay Thompson is on both sides of the court. Yesterday he could not find his stroke, his rhythm and he was held to only 6 points, which shows that the Cavaliers got outscored by 22 points, and Klay Thompson (a 21 point per game scorer, and pure shooter) was held to 6 points.

The Cavaliers in order to have a chance in this series have to lock down either Stephen Curry or Kevin Durant. If these two, in the next games, have the same games they had in Game 1, the Cavaliers will be in a whole lot of trouble. The problem is their defense. LeBron James has to step up more, has to get his guys involved, Tristan Thompson must get more than 4 rebounds a game, Kyrie Irving must be better offensively, and lastly, Kyle Korver and J.R Smith must knock out open three’s and jumpers. It will take sacrifices and spectacular performances for the Cavaliers to pull this one off and defeat the Warriors. The Warriors, were great last night, but could even be better, and that is what is the scary part. The Cavaliers have to get way better in Game 2, have to find a way to defend the Warriors’ superstars, on the perimeter and inside the paint with Tristan Thompson, Kevin Love, LeBron James and the rest of the guys! Thus, the answer to the title question is that the Warriors were great last night but could be actually even better, and the Cavaliers after the 18:00-minute mark seemed like they gave up and could not keep up with the Warriors’ shooting. The Cavaliers defensively were really bad last night, so a combination of the two would be the right answer for this question.

Finally, before the series, my prediction was Warriors in 5 games, and I’m sticking to it, as I think that we have not even witnessed the Warriors at their absolute best yet, but also because I sincerely believe that the superpower of these superstar players and former MVP’s, as well as  wanting to prove people, journalists, former players and the fans wrong will come on to play.
