Kevin Durant is not playing around.

In the 2016 NBA Finals, the Warriors only got 65 points from Harrison Barnes in seven games. Kevin Durant on the 2017 NBA Finals has already scored 71 points in only two games. However, the ways Durant is facilitating and helping the Warriors win and be undefeated in the 2017 NBA playoffs is not only scoring. He is playing outstanding defense on the Cavaliers, LeBron James, JR Smith, blocking shots and stealing passes, while also rebounding the ball, and running down the court, for a fastbreak opportunity.

Last July, since day one we expected the huge impact Durant would have on the Warriors, but we had some questions on how he would react when needed, in a possible NBA Finals game. Thus far, Durant has shown why he is universally considered as one of the top 3 players in the NBA, a scoring machine, and a player who want to achieve his ultimate goal, which is to win a championship. His personality and character in these playoffs have shown that he is not only a great player but could be a true leader of this Warriors team. Durant knew from the day he signed with Golden State, how he would be considered 'weak', 'loser', etc, but right now it seems as Durant has shut down some of these typical responses he got from the NBA fans. As he has previously stated, along with other NBA players, the feeling you get when you win an NBA championship is incredible. If he actually wins this year's title, and also wins the Finals MVP trophy then this would mean, Durant made a great move last summer by joining the Warriors because he would have achieved his personal goals.

The challenge he has to face, going up against LeBron James, and proving everyone wrong, that he is not 'weak' he does show up in big situations on the Finals is what we are witnessing in these first two games. Going up against LeBron is a great challenge and matchup for us, NBA fans. Durant joined the Warriors as one of the top 3 players in the world, wanting to win a title, and help this team achieve that for the second time in three years. He is now two wins away from reaching his ultimate goal. His character is showing, the passion he has for the game, the championship is what we witnessed in the two first Finals games. If he continues to play like that, and together with Steph Curry lead the Warriors to a title, Durant would have completed a successful season, by reaching his ultimate goal.

Finally, nobody knows how the rest of the series will go, but at this very moment, the Warriors seem to have the control, with Durant and Curry showing how they can be unstoppable and lead this team to a title. Durant came to Golden State, to not only give something more than Harrison Barnes but become a true leader and so far he has succeeded in this role.
